Cycle Touring Checklist - What You Need to carry?


Before you head to pack for a cycle tour it's very important for you to understand the riding condition well in advance. Talk to your tour operator/organizer and understand the riding condition well in advance and follow simple rules like: #1 Pack light - Pack right: Ensure you pack according to your requirements and avoid things that don't matter to you. (Keep in mind the airline baggage limit, and heavy bags are always a trouble —train stations and hotels don’t always have elevators!)

#2 Ensure you’ve got all the necessities: Personal medication, Hydration support that your used to, or anything that you feel is necessities for a smoother ride. I'm now trying to share with you the list to carry - Checklist, carefully designed for your cycle ride with my little experience in bicycle touring and hosting few tours like the Tour of Andman and Tour for Friends over the years. This shall help your ride be more comfortable on the bike and relaxing at the end of the day.

Biking Essentials

  • Bike Helmet - Safety knows no reason

  • Water bottle/ Sipper - 2 Nos

  • Frame bag/Handlebar bag/Trunk bag - as per your requirement

  • Headlight & Taillights

Repair Essentials - not necessary if you're hiring a bike on tour with us

  • Spare tube - 2 Nos

  • Spare tire - 1 Nos

  • 2 extra spokes

  • Spare disc brakes/brake pads

  • Puncture kit with a hand pump

  • Multi-tool kit

  • Bike cleaning wipes

  • Spare chain link

  • Spare nuts, bolts, and washers

Tour Essentials

  • GPS or route map - offline maps recommended

  • Sunglasses or clear lenses

  • Sunscreen & Moisturizer/ Coconut oil

  • Emergency contact info

  • Mask

Nutrition Essentials

  • Electrolyte

  • Energy bars/chocolates

  • Nuts/Dry fruits

  • Fresh fruit

Clothing Essentials

  • 2 Pairs of riding shorts (Recommend to use seasoned padded shorts and not to try a new one on your tour)

  • 2 Riding jerseys (quick-dry - you will always get less time for launder away from home)

  • 2 pairs of quick-dry socks for cycling

  • Comfortable shoes/cleats shoes for biking and walking

  • Riding gloves

  • 3-5 pairs of innerwear (quick-dry)

  • Cool-weather jacket or rain jacket (as per the season and climate)

  • Extra layers and gloves for cooler season or climate (thin, thermal, water-resistant)

  • Post-ride, Shoes or Sandals

  • Post-ride, Swimsuit

  • Post-ride, 2-3 tee-shirts or casual shirts

  • Post-ride, 2 Trousers or jeans

Toiletries

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Razor

  • Hairbrush

  • Shampoo

  • Deodorant

  • Hand sanitizer

Documents

  • Credit/Debit Card

  • Cash in hand

  • Any government-issued id card except the PAN

  • Passport - if you're traveling overseas

  • Post COVID-19, A negative RT-PCR certificate not older than 72 hours

Miscellaneous

  • Power bank

  • Camera

  • Zip pouch//Zip Tag

  • Multi-pin socket

  • Plastic cover/bags (for dirty laundry, wet clothes)

  • Safety pin, glue, and rope

First Aid

  • Personal Medications - if any

  • Pain Relief Spray

  • Band-aids

  • Antiseptic cream/ointment

  • Mosquito repellent
